This being my first blog post of many over the next 8 weeks, it seems only fair to explain what I'm doing, where I'm going and why I'm going there. You see, acting has been my passion since around about the age of 8. So when I get an offer from a friend over in LA to go and study with him for 8 weeks, you can surely understand how elated I was. But then I hear where this friend teaches, and where I'll be attending for those 8 weeks, and it all changed.
The Stella Adler School of acting on Hollywood Blvd. in LA is to me how Oxford or Harvard is to any budding genius, one of the best of the best. So when I was told that I had the opportunity to be studying there, I nearly passed out. And then I got told that the term starts in a week and a half, and that I have to be in LA by then. That's when the mayhem started.
Everything sped into lightning speed, from booking flights, travel insurance, assessment generation (from my current Uni (Unitec)), purchasing of a suitable suitcase, a fundraising partie that failed, another fundraising event that didn't fail, saying goodbye, visa's, prescription copies for customs and even down to the washing of all my clothes that are thrown across my bedroom floor. The last week and a half has been busy to say the least.
So here I am, it's 1:55pm the day before I fly out, at 7am in the morning no less, getting my clothes ready to wash before I pack last minute, like every true student does, and writing my first blog entry thinking... wow, is this all really happening?
